This week we shall concentrate on the Spiritual Armour in Ephesians Chapter 6.
Ephesians 6:13 Therefore take up the whole armour of God, so that you may be able to withstand on that evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm.
Mon – Ephesians 6:14a Stand, therefore, and fasten the belt of truth around your waist... Jesus said, “...you will know the truth and the truth will make you free.” (John 8:32) Pray that you may know more of the truth of God’s Word and also that you become increasingly less prone to attacks of the enemy.
Tue – Ephesians 6:14b Stand therefore, ... and put on the breastplate of righteousness. Thank God for the free gift of righteousness. (Romans 5:17)
Wed – Ephesians 6:15 As shoes for your feet put on whatever will make you ready to proclaim the gospel of peace. Shoes speak of foundation. Pray that the Spirit will remind you of foundational truths. (John 14:26)
Thu – Ephesians 6:16 With all of these, take the shield of faith, with which you will be able to quench all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Faith is a gift from God. We all have it. It’s like a spiritual muscle - it grows with proper use; and like a physical muscle, it can be damaged by pushing it too far too fast. Pray for opportunities to develop your faith at the pace God sets for you.
Fri - Ephesians 6:17a Take the helmet of salvation,... The helmet protects the head which is the seat of your thoughts. The helmet is the only part of this armour that facs backwards as well as forwards. Thus we are protected from the sneaky attacks of the enemy. Read Revelation 7:10 and think on the fact that God protects his work of redemption in your life.
Sat - Ephesians 6:17b ...and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. When tempted in the wilderness, Jesus resisted by quoting the Word of God - he used it as an effective weapon (see Luke ch. 4). Look again at John 14:26 and pray for the Spirit’s help in getting more and more into God’s Word.
Sun - Ephesians 6:18 Pray in the Spirit at all times in every prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert and always persevere in supplication for all the saints. Let the Spirit lead you into new ways of prayer - ask him to do this. Remember to pray for God’s people everywhere.
